Pawnee wins district appeal, others denied

Five basketball appeals were heard on Monday morning in front of the University Interscholastic League District Appeals Committee.

Of the five appeals that were heard, Pawnee was the lone appeal approval from the UIL District Appeals Committee, as they will move from 32-1A to 30-1A.

Hearings that were rejected included Waco Meyer’s request to move to 2A, Cumberland Academy’s request to move to 3A and Great Hearts Northern Oaks and Monte Vista North’s request to move to 27-3A.

Terlingua Big Bend, who received a majority vote at the district level, will be moving to 9-1A after being placed in 10-1A in the alignment.

Other non-basketball appeals included Midland YWLA (Young Women’s Leadership Academy) volleyball appeal to move to 3-3A that was denied and will remain in 3-4A. Rio Grande City Grulla’s appeal for football was denied, with their request to move to 16-4AD1 being denied.

Kirbyville was also approved on the district level to be moved to 22-3A after being previously aligned in 21-3A.
