For the second straight year, the UIL took no action on the shot clock, which was listed on the Athletic Standing Committee agenda on Tuesday.

The item did not go through the standing committee, which items must be passed or be continued to monitor for the legislative council to pass the topic.

However, despite the shot clock not passing, another topic did gain momentum as of late and is awaiting to be passed with a superintendent survey.

The 1A playoff structure is set up with the top three teams going to the playoffs.

With the future of the 1A postseason in superintendents hands, it has a chance of passing.

The 1A postseason field could be expanded to include the top four district teams to advance to the proposed field of 128 and be consistent with the rest of the UIL classification format for basketball.

If superintendents do pass the proposed topic, the new postseason change could kick in effect, starting this coming season.
