A shot clock, charge circle and the editing of the bonus rule was on the docket of the UIL Legislative Council meeting on Tuesday afternoon.

The shot clock, a hot topic across both boys and girls basketball, will not be implemented as the committee took no action.

The change of the bonus rule, which was brought in from the proposal for being placed with the double bonus coming into play after the fifth foul of every quarter, also saw no action.

A charge circle is an item that has been picking up momentum after each season, with the council electing the recommendation of no action.

The home court advantage rule in all team sports also saw no action. However, schools can do this with a corresponding district, if an agreement is met.

Also noted, the UIL follows the NFHS rules for basketball in terms of the additions/change of rules for basketball.

There is still hope for these rules to come into play, as taking no action will allow them to return to the agenda in a later council meeting.

The Council approved a Flat Rate fee schedule and travel reimbursements for officials.

The new amendment will adjust sub-varsity fees and will go by being paid by a five dollar increase instead of being paid of minutes in a quarter, which was passed by the sports officials committee. Scrimmage fees are also increased for all team sports.
