 Other games

Mansfield 47, Burleson Centennial 45

This game not only shows how deep 8-5A could be, but how competitive the playoff race will be in the Mansfield ISD district. Keep an eye on this district when district comes around.

Galena Park North Shore 34, Fort Bend Hightower 31

In a back-and-forth defensive game, the North Shore defense came up huge in a big way in a key moment to deny Hightower to get the win. North Shore could be a problem in a loaded 6A Region III.

Joshua 56, Arlington 26

The Lady Owls had two players recording double-doubles as Region II should keep an eye on what is happening in Joshua this year.

South Grand Prairie 52, #2 Frisco Liberty 47

An early loss will not hurt Frisco Liberty but keeping this game competitive shows how close the gap is between the defending state runner-up and a perennial power in 6A.

#6 Kingwood Park 65, Tomball 36

This is a top-10 team that is not getting talked about enough and the size of this team is what jumps out of the page, reading on paper. Kingwood Park may be the best team in 5A in all of the outer-Houston area.
