Potential teams that could break through the TXHSGBB rankings

Note: These are teams that are not ranked inside the TXHSGBB.com statewide or regional rankings. Pending results, they could enter in the following rankings in the next update.

Mesquite Horn

An experienced lineup that included highly-touted recruit in Jasmine Shavers and Viencia Jackson are a mainstay in Region II-6A and could turn the north portion of the region in a loop come playoff time if they receive the right playoff draw. With a pair of quality wins over Flower Mound and Cedar Hill, another opportunity to improve the resume will come against an explosive Richardson team, who are a guard-oriented team to watch in Region I.

Palo Duro

The Lady Dons have been a team on the rise under veteran coach AJ Johnson and sharp-shooter LaShonda Stiger has been paving the way early with her long-range shooting capability. With a 2-1 record against lower classification opposition, the wins are against quality small school opponents and should be treated as solid early wins.

Seminole

The maidens have been turning heads with their fast-tempo offense and high basketball IQ from an experienced lineup led by Xoe Rosalez and Bret’lei Dominguez, as the offense is currently averaging 72.25 points per game. The first true data point will come tonight against state ranked New Home as Seminole look to put Region I-4A on notice.

Sanger

The Lady Indians will be receiving a tough test and their 3-0 record on the line against state power Argyle, who need no introduction to the girls’ basketball realm. Sanger have turned heads with their margin of victories against Era, Pilot Point and Nevada Communty, who are an upcoming program to watch with former Grapeland coach Robert Payne at the helm. A win for Sanger could find themselves in the regional rankings as they look to return to being the frontrunner in Region II-4A.

Peaster

A sophomore laden highlighted by pure scorer Payton Hull and Brooklyn Bosher have the Lady Hounds at 3-1 early so far and are quickly turning into a district favorite and a regional darkhorse. A key datapoint will come in the weekend, as they host Holliday.

Honorable Mentions

Conroe Oak Ridge

Picking up wins against Houston Westside and Klein Collins, the Lady War Eagles are stringing together a solid early resume as through four games, Nicole Petrakovitz leads the team in scoring with 17 points on average. Junior Allison Owens leads the team in boards, averaging 7.5 per game through four games along with scoring six. Freshman talent Raniyah Lewis has been key early to add to the scoring efforts with 9.5 points per game and 2.5 steals. Saturday will be a key data point for ranking-makers, as Oak Ridge host Cypress Ranch.

Kingwood Park

A solid start for Kingwood Park in four games as they have tallied four wins, one of which comes against a solid program in Magnolia West as the young players confidence is on the rise. A solid test will be coming for the Lady Panthers as they travel to Humble  in an intriguing game for ranking-makers.

Somerset

The Lady Bulldog offense so far has not missed a beat, averaging 72.75 points per game in four wins against Crystal City, San Antonio Cole, Eagle Pass and Southwest Legacy. The 5A dropdowns will face Buda Hays on Friday in attempt to stretch their winning streak and continue the offensive momentum prior to a tough stretch of games next week with a road game to Medina Valley coming up next Tuesday.

Premont

The Cowgirls returned the entire roster from last year and are prepared to write their own history as there is lots of buzz about this Cowgirl team this year , who only own six playoff appearances to their name in program history along with two area round appearances. Premont is currently 3-0 with wins against Woodsboro, Banquete and San Diego as their first test comes tonight against a solid Port Aransas squad.
