Nov. 16 Recap: Fredericksburg fight off Navarro, Monterey win big

4A No.13 Stephenville 44, China Spring 25

Jaylee Matthews and Mya Wesley recored a team high nine points apiece as the Honeybees topped China Spring in a tough 44-25 game on Tuesday to move to 2-0 on the young season.

China Spring were led by senior Lily Reynolds tallied a game high 13 points in the victory.

3A No. 9 Skidmore Tynan 38, Santa Gertrudis Academy 9

Mari Gonzales finished with a game-high 13 points, as the ninth-ranked Skidmore-Tynan Lady Cats stifled Santa Gertrudis Academy, 38-9.

Kaci Rivers pitched in eight points in the victory.

The game only saw two three-point baskets made from Makaelah Favre and Klary Herrera in a defensive battle in which the Ladycat defense only allowed two points in the first half.

5A No. 3 Lubbock-Cooper 76, Plainview 53

Adlee Blacklock and Bella Sipowicz led a balanced scoring attack with 16 points respectively as the Lady Pirates held off Plainview 76-53 in a regional final rematch from last year.

There were some bright spots for the Lady Bulldog side, with freshman guard Mady Williams scoring 11 points and impressed with her play.

Lubbock Cooper will travel to Canyon for the Canyon Shootout, which will start Thursday against 4A No. 2 Canyon at 6 p.m.

4A No. 4 Fredericksburg 56, 4A No. 6 Geronimo Navarro 45

Taylor Grona led all scorers with 14 points as the Lady Billes topped a well-coaches Navarro team, 56-45, in a potential playoff meeting preview in Fredericksburg.

Madison Frantzen added 12 points in a balanced scoring attack. Anabel Araiza and Ella Hartmann finished with 10 points respectively.

Navarro were led by Tatum Harborth, who pitched in 12 points. Laylin Sturm finished with 11 points.

5A No. 19 Lubbock Monterey 89, Abilene 24

Freshman standout Aaliyah Chavez, who has picked up 14 offers so far, finished with a game high 33 points in a 89-24 rout of Abilene at home. Kelly Mora added 14 points in the interior. McKenzie Begaye added 10 points in the winning effort.

Imperial Buena Vista 73, McCamey 21

The Lady Horns look to be the main front-runner to top Rankin in 10-1A and they made a statement in a victory over McCamey on Tuesday.

5A No. 11 Amarilo 61, 6A No. 25 Frenship 50

The Lady Sandies pick up a key win against a tough team in Frenship, who can shoot the ball well when dialed in from long range.

5A No. 14 Mansfield Timberview 48, 5A No. 6 Lake Dallas 35

The Lady Wolves are riding the momentum from the Frisco ISD tournament and with the help from the defense in the second half, which allowed only 16 points, Timberview is picking up solid wins early and making themselves known in the region.
