Large School Bracket: Wichita Falls Rider 54, Palo Duro 48

If you did not know the name Jalynn Bristow, you should.

The freshman pitched in 20 points and was a key impact in the second quarter as Rider earned a 54-36 victory over Palo Duro to win the large school division for the first time since 2015.

The win sees the Lady Raiders at 10-0 and carrying momentum and confidence heading into December, a key part of what will be needed heading into 4-5A.

For Palo Duro, despite falling in their district opener, that loss was turned into a positive and really showed the potential of the Lady Dons and giving them an extra confidence boost heading into 3-5A play.

Small School Bracket: Martin’s Mill 68, Slaton 43

Not even a power outage could not stop Martin’s Mill.

After facing a 10-minute delay due to the power failure at D.L. Ligon Coliseum, the Lady Mustangs used their defense to win the small school division of the Fantasy of Lights.

The top-ranked team in 2A kept opposing teams under 40 points in the tournament prior to the championship game.

Although it was not up to speed on what fans are usually known to see come state tournament time. They are still a work in progress with relatively new faces on the team.

For Slaton, there will be lots of positives to take from the tournament, including a healthy roster that could be making noise in a loaded 2-3A district that holds two of the top teams in the region.

Martin’s Mill will travel to Miller Grove on Tuesday while Slaton will entertain New Deal.
