AMARILLO LADY SANDIES
Coach: Jeff Williams
Record (District): 32-5 (10-0)
Key players: 6-1 Sr. G/F Briley Barnes (Tulsa), 5-11 Soph. G Taytum Bell, 5-3 Soph. G Jada Graves, 5-7 G/F Victoria Barrera
Last state appearance: 2019
State titles: 3 (2019, 2018, 1994, 1993)
Notes: Execution will be key for the Lady Sandies and it starts offensively, with the Tulsa signee Barnes being the main spark offensively. Sophomore Bell has impressed with her play so far this season. Athleticism will be a key for the Lady Sandies in transition situations.
FRISCO MEMORIAL LADY WARRIORS
Coach: Rochelle Vaughn
Record (District): 36-5 (17-1)
Key players: 5-9 Sr. G Jasmyn Lott (UNLV) 14.9 ppg; 6-0 Soph. G/F Brynn Lusby 8.5 ppg, 5.1 rpg; 6-0 Soph. G/F Falyn Lott 7.7 ppg; 5-7 Jr. G Angelicia Alexander 7.3 ppg
Last state appearance: None
State titles: None
Notes: Pure-shooting guard Lott is the main playmaker for the Lady Warriors and is the floor general in offensive sets. The supporting cast of Lusby, Alexander and younger sister Falyn also have their fair share of points. Lusby will be the main rebounder for the Lady Warriors.
COLLEGE STATION LADY COUGARS
Coach: DeAnna Doles
Record (District): 31-6 (16-0)
Key players: 6-0 Jr. G Jaeden McMillin, 5-6 Sr. G Aliyah Collins, 5-10 Jr. F/C Jayden Davenport, 5-5 Soph. G Taylor Montgomery
Last state appearance: 2020
State titles: None
Notes: New leadership at the helm for the Lady Cougars was not an issue as Doles has coached up the Lady Cougars back to the state tournament after a year absence. McMillin has smooth shooting form and is very athletic for her frame as a guard. Davenport led the team in scoring with 20 points in the regional final against Hendrickson. Any key player can have a big night for the Lady Cougars, which only have four seniors on the roster.
CEDAR PARK LADY WOLVES
Coach: Donny Ott
Record (District): 35-0 (14-0)
Key players: 5-10 Jr. G Gisela Maul, 6-2 Sr. F/C Shelby Hayes (Rice)
Last state appearance: 2021
State titles: 1 (2021)
Notes: The scoring duo of Maul and Hayes is one of the best in the state and arguably one of the best in all classifications. Maul brings athleticism, leadership and play-making ability to the floor along with the rebounding and interior scoring threat of Hayes, which creates a tough inside-out tandem as the Lady Timberwolves look to stretch their 60-game winning streak.
