ARGYLE LADY EAGLES
Coach: Chance Westmoreland
Record (District): 37-0 (12-0)
Key players: 6-0 Sr. G Caroline Lyles, 5-8 Soph. G Gabby Campbell, 5-8 Jr. G Madi Lumsden
Last state appearance: 2020
State titles: 6 (2006, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019)
Notes: Arkansas transfer Lyles has impressed with her play this season along with stellar sophomore Campbell, who had a solid regional tournament weekend last week. Lumsden bring experience to the floor with her play. Setting the tempo early will be key early on for the Lady Eagles as they aim to bring a seven state title back home.
BROWNSBORO BEARETTES
Coach: Jeremy Durham
Record (District): 38-2 (10-0)
Key players: 5-8 Sr. F/C Mekhayia Moore, 5-10 Soph. F/C Kherson Garrett, 5-11 Sr. G Paris Miller
Last state appearance: 2006
State titles: None
Notes: The Bearettes bring their sharp-shooting capability to the Alamodome and it starts in the interior with Moore and Garrett, who will both look to set up the inside-out game for the guards to set up their long-range skill set. Experience and leadership will be key components for the Bearettes, with 10 seniors making up the roster.
HARDIN-JEFFERSON LADY HAWKS
Coach: Mike Fogo
Record (District): 33-4 (12-0)
Key players: 6-0 Sr. G Ashlon Jackson (Duke), 5-9 Soph. G Kendall Sneed, 6-1 Jr. F Molly Beavers
Last state appearance: 2021
State titles: 2 (1986, 1989)
Notes: Jackson, the only player in Texas on the McDonald’s All-American game roster, will lead the Lady Hawks and the only piece of hardware eluding her decorated career, the state title. The guard spot will be in good hands alongside Jackson, with Sneed being a key pure-scorer and is turning heads in the recruiting world. Beavers is a physical player that will look to draw key fouls in the interior.
FREDERICKSBURG LADY BILLIES
Coach: Carrie Grona
Record (District): 36-3 (9-1)
Key players: 5-6 Jr. G Ella Hartmann, 5-9 Sr. F Avery Crouse, 5-4 Sr. G Annabel Araiza
Last state appearance: 2020
State titles: None
Notes: Punching their ticket to the state tournament in the most thrilling fashion, the Lady Billes return to the big stage for the second time in three years. The offense will look to Hartmann being the main signal-caller for the Lady Billies as she was the only freshman starter two years ago. Lauren Danz, who hit the game-winner in the regional final, will be key in the interior.
