Gruver 59, Grapeland 49

It may have taken a quarter to find their groove, but the Lady Hounds found their groove offensively.

Gruver, who finished with three different players in double figures, used a big second quarter showing that saw junior forward Andi Salgado and sophomore guard Bailey Maupin lead the Lady Hounds that rode a 9-2 run in the final 5:07 of the first half.

Gruver saw 10 points in the paint and six points off turnovers in the frame.

For Grapeland, the full court man-to-man pressure was a key part of them staying in the game in the first quarter, but Gruver adjusted to what the defense gave them.

Gruver advance to their first state title game since 2015.

Muenster 43, Mason 34

Excluding from the fact that Muenster topped Martin’s Mill, the Lady Hornets are playing their best brand of basketball.

The Lady Hornets got behind sophomore Martie McCloy, who recorded a game high 17 points and seven rebounds, to lead Muenster to their first state title game in 16 years and broke the school record of wins with one game left to be played.

The long-range shooting also was beneficial for Muenster, shooting 40 percent in the second half and tallying eight points off turnovers.

Mason saw their inside game established early, but were unable to find an outside game with Tristin Keller in foul trouble.
