Region I may be the region where the state champion could reign once again. Sands lose firepower in the coming season, with point guard Landry Morrow departing to Angelo State.

State MVP of the tournament Elysa Martinez will be the main playmaker in the starting lineup.

Turkey Valley have been turning heads in the summer circuit, splitting a pair of games against the defending state champs and cruising against Region II contenders in Roscoe Highland and Westbrook.

Nazareth are a safe pick to win the region and will see familiar opponents in district including Springlake-Earth, Kress, Happy and Hart.

Borden County and O’Donnell move north with Crosbyton, Lorenzo, Petersburg, Southland and Wilson in the eastern quarter of the region. Spur and Jayton both eye the district crown in 5-1A that remained unchanged.

Claude look to make noise in the Panhandle as they faced injuries but look to redeem themselves in a healthy start to the season.

2-1A

Claude may be the favorite on paper but Turkey Valley will be a tough out in our pick to potentially claim the district title. Silverton will be in a dark-horse role in the district along with a tough and deep White Deer team that is always in the playoff race.

8-1A

Sands, Grady, and Klondike will be contending for seeding in a tough districtas Garden City moves to Region II. Wellman-Union will be frequently traveling south to potentially steal a playoff berth.

4-1A

Nazareth come into the district with a solid Springlake-Earth team that are no stranger to success in recent years. Kress are also improving each year under Caitlin Neudorf and look to be on the map in the girls basketball picture with a deep playoff run. This is a four-deep district that can see any team seeing themselves in the second week of the playoffs.
