TXHSGBB Realignment Landing Page
With realignment being released last month, girls basketball was still in-season.
Now, we take a look in-depth at realignment, starting in Class 1A with the winners of who had a favorable draw and which metro areas won out in the hardwood side of realignment.
Winners
Cross Plains
With dropping down to 1A, the district draw is a favorable one for the Lady Buffs as they pick up traditional power Eula and May. The hire of Dustin Bates from Buffalo also bodes well for the future of the program as well.
Huckabay
Lipan has been the team that has had Huckabay’s number in the district. With the Lady Indians moving up to 2A, Huckabay are now one of the early front-runners in district play. Gorman will also prove to be a tough test in the district.
Claude
Region I thins in terms of depth with Ropes and New Home being promoted but now, the Lady Stangs are back in a familiar spot in the region being one of the state tourney contenders behind state power Nazareth.
The number of returnees prove to be a key as well as their experience in their deep playoff run and look to replicate it this coming season.
Losers
McLean
The Lady Tigers received the short end of the stick with the district draw but now, being moved north in the Panhandle could see games that could be not as tough as this past season and begin most of the district schedule as blowouts.
The non-district part of the schedule will be key in picking up tough tests to prepare for the postseason.
Campbell
The 2A drop-downs see a tough district draw, with Dodd City, Miller Grove and Ector grouped in the district. Now, this could potentially be a four-deep district if the top four teams progress in an upward trend to start the season.
Region I
As previously mentioned, the region loses two teams in Ropes and New Home as the region loses firepower in depth. For some teams, the path does open for Whiteface, an upcoming team in Springlake-Earth and Sands. The addition of Jayton, Spur, Guthrie and Patton Springs also makes up for the depth that was lost.
