Shallowater prevail over a tough Idalou team

In a battle of two heavy weights and the top two teams in Region I-3A from last season, Shallowater used their hard-nosed defense to come out on top, 59-45.

The win puts Shallowater in the driver’s seat for the early lead in 2-3A and with an imperative head-to-head advantage over Idalou in the standings.

In the win for the top-ranked Fillies, Kami Wood led all scorers with 14 points. Taylor Moravcik netted 12 in the winning effort.

Stephenville use strong fourth quarter to earn tough win on the road

Trailing 27-25 after three quarters, the Stephenville Honeybees used the defense and athleticism to pull away and pick up a 40-34 win on the road against a well-coached and talented Glen Rose team.

In the win, standout Alee McClendon recorded a game-high 16 points, Mya Wilson pitched in eight and Landri Withers added six.

For Glen Rose, Jeana Douglas had a team-high 15 points and Hannah Cantwell netted seven.

Brownfield earn outright lead in 3-3A

In the shadow of Shallowater/Idalou, Brownfield topped Littlefield in a battle of the district lead in a key game with early head-to-head standings implications on the line.

In the winning effort for the No. 4 Lady Cubs, Gabi Fields led all scorers with 19 points, after surpassing the 1,000 career point mark on Tuesday. Tia Johnson added 16 and Deja Johnson pitched in 11, with a charge to her name.

Father-daughter clash headline Coastal Bend action

It’s a rare occurrence on the basketball scene but it happened in 26-4A action as decorated alum and Rockport-Fulton head coach Morgan Hale coached against her father, Stephen, the head coach at Ingleside on Friday night.

Rockport-Fulton improved to 15-4 overall and 5-0 in district with a 48-27 victory.

Cedar Park earn big win against a well-coached Georgetown

The Lady Timberwolves have been impressive all season long so far and they scored a big district win on Friday with a 63-25 victory over a well-coached Georgetown team.

The defense was a key part of Cedar Park’s victory, only allowing two points in the third quarter.

Leading the way for Cedar Park was Gisella Maul with 16 points, Alissa Knight with 12 and Shelby Hayes adding 10.

Sudan’s Gracyn Schultz sets new school record

Sudan have been flying under the statewide 2A radar this year and have seen ranking time in the TXHSGBB polls early in the season.

With a valiant team effort topping Plains, 72-41, the Nettes drained 16 threes as a team, nine of which were scored by Gracyn Schultz.

Schultz broke the school record of made three-point shots in a single game, which was previously held by Kimberlee Gonzales and Delanie Black.

Plainview stun Amarillo

3-5A is one of the most toughest six-team districts in the state at the 6A and 5A level.

Under first year head coach Adrian Alfaro, the Lady Bulldogs made their presence known at the statewide level.

The Lady Bulldogs took the outright district lead early with a 71-70 victory over the No. 3 Amarillo Lady Sandies.

Emily Sigala led the team in scoring with 23 points in the winning effort.

Sunnyvale top Caddo Mills for outright 13-4A lead

The winning ways continues for Sunnyvale, as they extend their streak to 16 as they earned the outright 13-4A district lead with a 75-23 victory over Caddo Mills, who was half a game behind the Lady Raiders prior to this game.

Sunnyvale will have Tuesday off and will travel to Terrell next Friday.

Bridgeport go 3-0 in district

Three games, three wins.

It was a good week for Bridgeport fans, with three district games recorded in wins.

Earning wins against Springtown and Castleberry, the week ended with a key victory over Decatur, 42-29, giving the Sissies the early frontrunner spot in 7-4A, which will be a very competitive district at the top.

The game Saturday night was a rescheduled game against Decatur, which was postponed due to COVID-19.

Wylie East claim 10-5A supremacy after first round of district

Fans definitely got their money’s worth in this game in this back-and-forth battle as Wylie East prevailed over a talented McKinney North team, 53-50.

With the win, Wylie East are atop the 10-5A standings after the first round of play.

Akasha Davis recorded a team-high 16 points while McKinney North’s Ciara Harris had a game-high 20 points.
